Jeffree Star is wrong because he is missing the most basic fact. Every person under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella has a sexuality and an identity. Sexuality and gender are not the same thing. They never have been. They exist together in every human being.
Lesbian gay and bisexual people are not walking around without identities. They are not floating faces with no sense of self. They all have bodies. They all have genders. They all have identities that shape how the world treats them. Their sexuality is one part. Identity is another.
Trans and non binary people have identities too and they also have sexualities. Their gender identity does not replace sexuality. It sits alongside it. There are trans lesbians trans gay men trans bisexual people trans straight people. There are non binary people who love men or women or both or neither. Identity and sexuality sit side by side in every human life.
Jeffree Star is pretending identity belongs to one group and sexuality belongs to another. That is nonsense. Cis straight men have identity and sexuality. Cis straight women have identity and sexuality. Everybody does.
So if Jeffree really believes LGB means sexuality and TQIA means identity then he should explain what identity he thinks lesbians have. Or what identity he thinks gay men have. Or what identity he thinks bisexual people have. He cannot because it makes no sense.
The LGBTQIA+ community exists because sexuality and identity together shape how we live and how we are treated. We fight the same fight because the same people attack both.
Jeffree Star can sell makeup all he likes but he does not get to rewrite biology or history or lived reality. That is the real point.
